Maxwell was a Ballroom and Latin American Dancesport competitor for 16 years, prior to his medically induced retirement, during which he became: World and UK Amateur 10 Dance Finalist, English Closed and Welsh Open Amateur Champion, and he was 7 times British Closed Championship Finalist. He also had the honour of representing Great Britain at the International Team Match.
In addition to this, Maxwell was elected President of the Ballroom and Latin DanceSport Society, and led the society’s business management and financial strategy during his time in office, whilst he was studying Law LLB (Hons) at Royal Holloway, University of London.
Maxwell has continued his education and is currently undertaking postgraduate studies with De Montfort, in Sports Law LLM. Following his aspirations to the Bar of England and Wales, Maxwell is a scholar on the BPP’s University Legal Practice (Bar) Course with the intention of qualifying as a leading practitioner in Sports Law. In pursuit of these aspirations, Maxwell currently sits as a Registry Support Officer at The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
Maxwell was previously a registered ABD Amateur Student Instructor, however now, due to the successful completion of his Professional Examinations (Associate and Licentiate), Maxwell coaches and advises British couples within the domestic competitive of Ballroom and Latin American DanceSport.
A keen advocate for both justice and the rule of law, Maxwell is also a commentator on television and radio, providing insightful analysis on both the importance of strong governance and the inadequacies in the legal-regulatory sector.
