Strictly Air Ambulance

BBC’s Strictly might be over for another year, but two BDSA members,  Katie Harrison and Strictly’s very own Kai Widdrington, are involved in another glittering event, Strictly Air Ambulance 2024.

Six Air Ambulance volunteers have been paired with six professionals who have around three months to teach two dances. Both dances are then performed on the 9th March at the Brentwood International Centre, in front of an audience and judging panel, set up in a similar way to the TV version of Strictly that everyone is familiar with. Kai Widdrington, along with his partner Nadiya are part of the judging team, and the event will be hosted by celebrity ambassador, Lisa Snowdon and ITV presenter David Whiteley.

Last year the event raised £19,429.97 for the air ambulance service, and in 2024 they are hoping to top this!

The BDSA’s very own Katie Harrison will be paired with Steve Drew, a  former volunteer blood biker for Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, and whose family has been directly supported by the service.

In Steve’s word:

“Gaynor and the EHAAT team, saved my boy’s life. I owe them everything. No words can describe how big a challenge this will be for me, but if I can raise funds whilst dad dancing with two left feet and the rhythm of an arthritic rhino then bring it on.”

Katie and Steve will be dancing a Viennese Waltz and the Paso Doble. You can keep up with their progress on our social media channels.

You can donate to Katie and Steve’s Just Giving page by clicking here or support the couples in person by buying tickets for the event.
