Definition of woman for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010

“The BDSA acknowledges the ruling of the Supreme Court yesterday on the legal definition of a woman for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010. The judgment does not change the legal protections that trans people have against discrimination and harassment on the basis of gender reassignment. While it is too early to understand the full ramifications of the ruling, the BDSA reaffirms its commitment to providing a safe and welcoming space to all members of the dance sport community regardless of their identity or personal characteristics. We will review our relevant policies in due course, but for the present, they all remain in force. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the office for advice."
